The Schuylkill Canal Association invites you to visit the Schuylkill Canal Park for our various programs. We encourage you to join us and the outdoor enthusiasts, historians, musicians, who provide entertainment, education, and recreation during these events.
Most programs are held at Lock 60 and are typically held outdoors. They are mostly arranged to be held during the monthly Locktender’s Open House on the third Sunday of each month from 1 PM to 4 PM, except June and December when the Open House schedule changes. This gives SCA the opportunity to meet you, chat about the history of the Schuylkill Navigation and offer some light refreshments to interested guests who come to visit. Thanks to the generous support of Upper Providence Township and Montgomery County admission is free, however donations are gladly accepted to help offset the cost involved with educational programming and outreach.
Scheduled openings of Lock 60 are held at 3 PM on the third Sunday of the month shortly after the Locktender’s Open House program has been completed; weather permitting. Volunteer lock tenders are always needed.
SCA also encourages the general public to attend its Board of Directors meetings and to join one of our working committees; your thoughts and ideas are welcome. The meeting dates, times and gathering places are listed below; please call if directions or more information is needed. And be sure to visit this page again and often for an updated schedule as additional programming
is added as the year goes on.
